Smile Big, Everyone!

We had this photo of Grandma, Grandpa and all their grandkids taken last fall at their 50th wedding anniversary. A nice evening to bring in the photographer and create some lasting memories. Can you tell which one is my kid?

Here. Maybe you need a little hint.

I'll have you know I have been VERY tempted to post that picture on my blog, but I haven't. I do use it whenever people are looking over my shoulder though. Ahh, Max. That kid's hilarious. Have him wiz on the rose bush once for me.

BIG giggles from my house to yours! Those photos are CLASSIC!!! Perfect blackmail for when he's a pious, self-righteous teenager.

I hadn't thought of the wedding video...best archive it!

The thing is, these photos really do speak so much to his personality. He can be so sweet ("I love you, mom!"), then turn to a terror in moments (I HAATE YOU! You stupid idiot!"). Last night he took the scissors to the back of my new snazzy sweater (clearance--$5.49, thank you very much!) while my back was turned because I told him he had to take a bath. The little beast. You should have seen him scamper behind the couch after I hollered and his dad went after him. I took some pleasure in leaving him in the bath for quite some time, and then finishing up the hair washing in the luke-cool water.

He is a funny kid, and I'm sure the antics will continue for quite some time.

Did I tell you how much I love Max? The absence of both Max and his antics is duly noted in nursery.

He's a keeper.

I just used this picture for the icon to my use logon to my laptop. I had to password the thing because my buddy tried to hijack my computer, almost causing a very embarassing situation for me just before contracts one day. So I used that picture of Max to send him a message the next time he tries to hijack my computer. One of my favorite pics of all time.

Lorien, that is so funny.

Were you wearing the sweater when he cut it?

Lorien said...

oh yes. Clipped it a good inch right in the back. Stinker.

You've got to admire the kid's brass for doing something like that though.

hey, lorien, you were looking pretty good sweeping your driveway this morning. hehehe. Actually, i shouldn't talk because when i was driving my mom into work today, i was wearing a blanket around my waste. i still had shorts on though, it was just a little cold.

The face he's making is so menacing... like he really means it! I'm cracking up here!

Speaking of Max and his antics. Yesterday I watched Calvin take Max out during church and I got a front row seat to the funniest incident on their way back in. They were just entering the chapel when little Max turned around and gave Calvin a right hook right square in the privates.

Bless Calvin's heart because even though he was starting to double over in obvious distress, he didn't retaliate. But the look on his face was priceless. I almost laughed out loud right there in the middle of a serious sermon.

It was right up there with the moment a few years ago when I saw Lorien march Calvin out with "that look" on her face. I happened to notice on their way back in that Calvin was rubbing his head mightily as if he had just gotten clobbered. Of course he hadn't, but the images were again priceless.

There's never a dull moment with the Francis clan around. Thanks guys!

Your son could have his own reality show on MTV... or he could be the next generation Punk'd.

I just read your peeing dilemna and saw the best picture ever...(good luck with the peeing... boys)

My sister just told me a story about a teacher teaching 4 year olds about the atonement - she went into graphic detail about the crucifixtion and the kids were stunned and were oohing an ahhing... and then when she got to where the Roman's put a crown of thorns on Jesus' head - one of the little boys says in his most appalled voice "those sums of b*^$#@!"

From the mouths of babes... ;-) They can always make me smile.

i just want you to know that i think the tea party was such a great success! you did a great job putting it together. Plus, it was so fun to see everyone dressed up. the girls i teach had a great time and were really excited they could perform.

I agree--kudos to you. And I still marvel that you packed in fun, food, photos and entertainment in less than an hour. My short attention span was so pleased. And not to mention the fact that you looked totally great. How do you do it? I'd love to hate you, but I don't.

Thank you for the tea party compliments. If I get around to it I'll post a blog about it...

And thank you for the little story about my sons. Poor Calvin. You should see Max tackle the kid (8 years his senior) and he just rolls with it.

Yes, indeed from the mouths of babes. That is a great story, scarlett.

What a great introduction to your blog! Thanks for the great new desktop photo. I thought I would never find anything I liked better than Bjork posing with a taxidermied polar bear.

Lo you managed to leave out the best thing about this picture. When was it taken? Christmas morning 2005. While most children focus on Christmas, Max has time to pose for a picture that will be around for a while.
